Paddle Fixture

Paddle Fixture

Do you ever have this problem?
This titanium rib is being machined on a 4-axis machine using a trunion fixture (or as some would say: a paddle fixture). But, there's a problem! The part is so big that there is no room to install clamps for holding the part. What do you do when you're out of room to use clamps? You may want to consider what the programmer/tool designer did in this case: get Invert-A-Bolt™ fasteners! The footprint of the fastener is tiny: just about a 1/2" in diameter x 1/2" deep. Instead of using clunky clamps, or in-the-way bolts, the programmer/tool designer has leveraged his knowledge of tooling products to produce the best solution to this tooling challenge. He can machine right over the top of the fastener to machine the sides of the part and when all done, by tabbing to the top of the flange (versus the mold line side), can easily remove the tabs for final processing. Maybe you're facing a tooling challenge today. Check out these unique clamping devices under the products tab or give us a toll-free call 877-462-BOLT to discuss your application.
